I am a 67 year old female that was born with a hemangioma on the bottom of my left foot. I want to tell you about my experience with the Alpha-Stim unit.
I had experienced swelling and pain with my foot until 1984 when I had my foot amputated at the ankle. I was never able to get a prostheses to fit properly because of the ankle bones. I had "real pain" and "phantom pain". My real pain felt like a bolt of lightening which lasted from 1-2 hours to 3 days. I have taken pain medicine and used the TENS unit with some degree of relief.
in May of this year, I had a BK amputation to try to control the pain and hopefully get a better fit on my prosthesis. The real pain was relieved some, but not the phantom pain. In July, Dr. Gould, my chiropractor, asked if I would like to try a unit he had been introduced to. I was rather reluctant to try, but thought it might help. I went to his office twice. Since I could not feel anything when I was using the unit, I felt it wasn't doing anything. Dr Gould suggested that I come to his office when I was having the lightening bold pain to see if I could tell a difference in the pain level. I had a sharp pain, then after about 5 seconds I had another pain, however, this pain fizzled out and did not continue!!! I was very surprised and felt like something had really happened. Dr. Gould suggested I continue using the unit which I did six more times. I still experienced some pain, but it was much milder. To my surprise, I no longer had any phantom pain and the really pain can be controlled with a 20-30 minute session using the unit. I only have the sharp pain after being on my feet for long periods of time.
I now have a personal unit I can use whenever I feel the need. I also use my unit on my shoulder and neck. I am so pleased with my unit I tell anyone with pain about it. I only hope they contact a doctor who will help them as I have been helped.
Thank you for putting such as helpful machine on the market. It is easy and painless to use. An additional benefit is that I no longer am taking any pain medicine.
